hello kitty the supersonic feline

i had a happy halloween, even though i didn't really do anything halloweeny. in the morning, venus, grace, krista, and i went to royal-t for the big hello kitty anniversary party that's going on. it was cute overload! we walked around the whole exhibit and then bought a few limited edition items from the gift shop. but since we were still not satisfied, we left and went to another sanrio store to shop some more! after a few more stops, i came home and crafted for a little bit. then i went to see toni since she was in town for a quick visit. we had dinner at blue lotus even though she was not hungry at all. after saying bye to her, i stopped by my parents' house to say hello to them, and then headed over to the driving range with anthony, venus, and vince. but unfortunately, the range closed earlier than normal. i guess the girl who was working wanted to go out and enjoy her halloween. haha. so instead, while the rest of the people our age were out partying, anthony and i came home and watched star trek. what nerds!

dr. si the dentist

i had a dentist appointment earlier. i've had a toothache for the past few days, and today i found out it's because i brush my teeth TOO hard. i didn't know that was possible. so yeah, i brushed my gums away and exposed the sensitive part of my tooth. yeeouch. but anyway, it was perfect timing that my dentist appointment was scheduled for today, 'cause our insurance expires tomorrow! wuh oh.

rianne the borrower

i had a pretty busy day today. actually, i've been busy with work all week long. my only non-work-related interaction with the outside world today was when rianne came over to raid my closet. haha. she originally just came to borrow my boots, but since she realized she would need some warm clothes for the road trip she's taking this weekend, she left the house looking like this. haha.. just kidding. imagine if you saw someone walking down the street wearing this many clothes. she should have, though. it's freaking freezing outside! (sorry, minnesota.)

what a fun wednesday! anthony and i finally joined the disneyland annual pass crew today! woohoo! we were originally going to get our passes on our birthdays next week, but mark planned a disney date for all the homies this evening, and it was good 'cause we got to see all the halloween stuff. thanks, mark! we were only there for a couple hours, but thanks to eva and jeric's handy dandy secret weapon, we were able to go on three rides without even waiting in line! our friends are awesome! i can't wait for more disney dates. and yeah, after leaving the park, we had a delicious dinner at hooters. what more could i possibly ask for? (=

anthony the unemployed

while i was working this afternoon, i heard the door open and was surprised to see anthony walk in. i jokingly asked, "what are you doing here? did you just get laid off?" to which he replied, "yes." we usually talk nonsense to each other, though, and so i didn't really respond to what he said. i just started talking about other stuff. but then about ten minutes into our conversation, i realized that he was actually serious. so yeah, poor hubby really DID get laid off. =( how sad. to be honest, it's not a huge surprise. they have been laying people off at his company all year. this was actually the fourth set of layoffs so far. it's just sad because he really liked work. but it's okay. life goes on. he'll be receiving severance pay through november, so he has a month to find something new. and yeah, i know God will bring him to something even better. He always does.

anthony and i went to t.g.i.friday's for dinner earlier to take advantage of this deal. from now 'til sunday, you get a free appetizer with any beverage purchase when you sit at the bar! cool, aye? so anyway, i'm pretty sure it's obvious that i didn't take this picture. anthony did not want me to ask our bartender to pose for a picture, so instead i searched google for "tgif bartender" and this is what i found. our bartender was not this exciting. haha. after our ridonkulously cheap dinner, we went to target to buy candy and shampoo.

after church today, anthony dropped me off at my parents' house and then went to meet up with kevin at the driving range (again). after they were done, they picked up some lemon pepper wings from wingstop and then brought me my dinner. yum! the settings on my camera were all messed up when i took this picture, but i liked how kevin came out looking like a cartoon character. haha.

p.s. i had a hard time falling asleep last night. i slept at 7am this morning and then woke up at 3:00 in the afternoon. i am developing such a healthy sleeping pattern.

the boys have picked up yet another hobby. since snowboarding, mountain biking, bowling, tennis, and running still don't keep anthony occupied enough, he has decided to take up golfing as well. geez! so while the boys practiced hitting balls at the driving range earlier, us girls sat behind them and laughed whenever they missed. haha, just kidding. it's actually kind of fun to watch. after golf, we had dinner at taco san pedro and then got dessert at.. guppys, of course! grandma the escortee

tonight we had dinner with my family at chicago for ribs. my parents wanted to take us out to celebrate our anniversary. whenever we go out to eat, one person gets designated as my grandma's chaperone. this lucky person gets to walk her to the bathroom at least two times during dinner. i had the pleasure of being her lovely escort this evening. haha. we find it unusual that grandma walks so slow while out in public.. but then when she's home and she hears the phone ringing, i'm pretty sure i've seen her running to answer it. =P

nina the wild thing

anthony, kevin, nina, and i went to rolling hills earlier to watch where the wild things are. i was really looking forward to watching that movie, and while i did enjoy it, i felt it was slow a lot of the time. still a cute movie, though. then after the movie, we went across the street to have dinner/dessert at norm's. in case you don't already know, if you show your movie ticket to your server there, you get a free ice cream sundae. holler!

serena the poser

jennifer sent us pictures from minnesota earlier. for some reason, this one totally cracks me up! haha.. i think it's a combination of her pose, facial expression, and the fact that she looks like a boy (though a very pretty one). so anyway, anthony and i hung out at my parents' house tonight. we did laundry, watched glee, helped my mom print out some invitations for her coworker, and then started planning priscilla's birthday party next month.

rianne, ricky, christine, jimmy, and i met up in irvine tonight. we had dinner at tokyo table, which was in a new plaza filled with all kinds of fun looking places. i wanted to stay to take sticker pictures and sing karaoke, but instead we headed out to the improv at irvine spectrum. the headliners of the night were supposed to be tom green and rob schneider, but only tom green showed up. there were also a few other comedians, some of whom were really funny. others.. not so much. hahah. one guy was so NOT funny that we couldn't stop cracking up. we were really bummed that rob schneider didn't show, but still ended the night on a happy note 'cause we got to take pictures with tom green. he was a little weird while on stage, but was nice and friendly afterwards.

rianne the opinion giver

rianne and i went to del amo mall today because i wanted to use the $50-off-a-$100-purchase coupon that i won at oldnavyweekly.com last thursday. w00t w00t! i wanted to buy a coat, and with rianne's help i ended up picking out a fabulous green one. it's funny but i don't think i would have bought it unless rianne was there with me. i always need a second opinion, or someone else to tell me that i'm making the right decision. haha. but yeah, i also bought a turtle neck and a cream shirt. all the clearance items were an additional 50% off. i got $152 worth of stuff, and i only spent $59. i love old navy!

Jesus the reminder

is it terrible that i didn't actually take this picture? anthony and i went to mass at st margaret mary today, and i wanted to take a picture of the statue of Jesus outside the church. but right before i got to it, a man walked in front of me and then started praying. anthony said we should just leave instead of stand behind him to wait for him to finish. so yeah, i got this off of SMM's webpage. eek! but anywho, today at church i was reminded about something that i always seem to forget. for many years now, i have experienced really bad headaches. sometimes they get so bad that i start to feel nauseous and/or dizzy. i have just accepted them as a fact of life. but then when anthony and i went to egypt last year, we heard a homily that made me think of pain in a different way. i thought it was the coolest idea, yet it always seems to slip my mind when i get another one of those annoying headaches. but then again today, Jesus reminded me. at today's mass, the priest told a similar story to the one i heard in egypt. it talked about suffering, and how we can use times of pain as a way to give our suffering back to Lord. so whenever you are in pain, rather than complaining about how much it hurts, say a prayer for someone less fortunate than you and then ask God if you can suffer on behalf on them. use your pain as an offering to God. that way, pain=gain! (=

uncle willy the geezer

today we celebrated uncle willy's 50th birthday at cafe santorini in old town pasadena. elyssa and eanna made him feel old by presenting him with a cane that had a magnifying glass, horn, and false teeth attached to it. haha. the restaurant was really cute. we sat on the rooftop patio. the only non-cute part about dinner was the bug that kept trying to eat my food. haha. happy birthday, uncle willy.. you old geezer!

jeric the disney fanatic

jenn, mark, eva, jeric, anthony, and i went out for a fun night in LA. we met up at the new beverly cinema to watch an old italian film called "divorce italian style." a guy i used to work with recommended it to me a few years back, so i was excited when i saw that it was going to be playing at the theater. i liked it. after the movie, we went to fatburger for dinner. we enjoyed our chicken wings while talking about the happiest place on earth. when jeric found out that the rest of us are getting (or already have) disneyland annual passes, he was thrilled. hahaha! watch out, mickey mouse! we are heading your way!

"my friend" the chicken

this is virgil's friend. as if he is not already weird enough as it is, he has somehow befriended this wild chicken that roams around his neighborhood. even if she's hiding in some bushes across the street, he can make a clucking noise and she will come running towards him. haha. he likes to feed her rice. chicken and rice. sound good to you? he never gave her a name. he simply calls her "my friend."

this is a terrible picture, but she wouldn't come any closer to us because i was standing outside with virgil. as soon as i got into my car, she ran into his yard. =P

anthony the husband

twelve years ago, anthony asked me if he could call me his girl. (haaaa!! lame-o.) two years ago, i stopped being his girl and became his wife. time is flying! anthony and i celebrated our anniversary at la creperie in belmont shore. he ordered the carbonara crepe, i ordered the al mare penne, and we split a nutella & strawberry crepe for dessert. everything was super good. we were originally gonna go to some fancy shmancy place in beverly hills 'cause i wanted to dress up and stuff, but anthony just wanted to go somewhere fun. i'm happy with how our date turned out: nice and simple, just like my husband. haha. yeah right. mean and complicated is more like it. (=

just keeeeding. anthony drives me crazy, but he also has a soft side that not many people get to see. i can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. but i will quit with the sweetness before you throw up. happy anniversary, antonio!!

gennie the date

it's been a while since gennie and i have been on a date, so we finally made time for each other for dinner tonight. heehee! we went to olive garden where we both ordered chicken fettucince alfredo and zuppa toscana soup. the soup wasn't so good today, but i still ate three bowls of it. haha! it was lots of fun catching up with my bebs. and then when i got home, i had a strawberry mochi cake that anthony picked up from JJ bakery for dessert. delish!

virgil the lunch buddy

the most boring part about working at home is that i spend the majority of my day alone. that can be a good thing a lot of the time, but other times it kind of sucks. i miss having coworkers to chat with to help pass the time while i work. so to keep me from going insane, i have lunch with virgil at least once a week. haha. today we had seafood rice noodle soup from blenders. i wanted to eat soup 'cause i was cold inside my house. but by the time i got to virgil's, i was sweating 'cause it was so hot out. what in the world is up with this crazy weather?

this picture is for priscilla. when we went to visit them in minnesota last week, she gave me a packet of stickers that are supposed to be pieced together to create a miniature shop. here's how it turned out. thanks, silla! when anthony caught me cutting and pasting, he was like, "what in the world are you doing?" but anyway, we had another lazy sunday. long nap, church, laundry.. the usual.

john the artist

after eating some delicious flautas at taco san pedro earlier, mike and i went to a shop/artspace called beatrock in long beach for the "pound for pound" art show. the show featured different types of artwork highlighting filipino athletes. mike's friend from high school, john (or his artist name: manila ryce), had two pieces up. and not to sound all biased, but i thought his two pieces were the most interesting ones there. i tried to take a picture of the painting he did using pig's blood, but it came out looking like this!! hahaha. i didn't realize 'til i looked at the picture later in the evening that the flash was too bright. oops!

sam the waitress

anthony and i decided to check out the new buffalo wild wings at del amo for dinner earlier. we've eaten the wings from there once before in vegas, but were disappointed with the food this time around. or maybe it was the whole experience that was disappointing. we had to sit outside next to a bunch of people yelling at each other. i guess i can't be surprised that it was loud there, but i just felt like everyone was yelling right into my ear. and then our waitress pretty much forgot about us. we never even got napkins or silverware to use. but whatever. i honestly just felt sorry for her 'cause i felt like she had no idea what she was doing. the only reason i ended up asking her to pose for a picture is because i found out a fun fact about her! haha. she asked me if i was cold, and then told me that it felt warm to her 'cause she's from minnesota. i was like, "no way! i was just there!" so yeah, small world. i loved tonight's 'Office' episode. i especially enjoyed the scenes where andy was fighting back tears. haha. hilarious!! i guess i thought it was so funny because whenever i would start tearing up (yes, i cry very easily.. even while watching comedies) they would pan over to andy who was tearing up as well. haha.. my kind of guy!

domo the cocoa holder

while anthony and i were driving home from shopping earlier, we saw a billboard for 7-11 advertising the new domo cups! can you say cute?! i always love hot cocoa, and now i have another excuse to go out and get some. but anyway, anthony and i went to kohl's 'cause he had $30 in kohl's cash that expired today. we looked all over the home goods department trying to find something to buy, but realized we pretty much already have everything we need. so instead, he bought a pair of jeans. how boring! (=

venus the pin collector

venus and i had dinner at rubio's. she bought me two fish tacos and a churro. mmm! then we decided to go to boba loca next for some milk tea. while we were there, venus showed me her new disney pin collection. she told me all about the trading techniques involved, and explained that it's like a game that you play while you're at disneyland. how freaking cool is that?! now i can't wait to get my annual pass so i can spend all my money on cute pins as well. haha. thanks a lot, venus!

priscilla the VIP

priscilla made us pancakes for breakfast today! we woke up early this morning because silla had to go to school. we knew we wouldn't be able to see her again before we had to go to the airport, so we hung out with her for as long as we could before she hopped onto the school bus. priscilla is the VIP at her school this week, so rianne and i helped her put her presentation together last night. she seems to be fitting in perfectly at her new school, so that's good news. after silla left, jennifer went to work and then the rest of us just hung out at the house and watched movies. we stopped by jenn's work in the afternoon where we had lunch at a nice little cafe. and then, we had to say goodbye. boohoo. ryan and serena dropped us off at the airport and then we were home in no time. the whole trip went by super fast, but it was great visiting our lovelies. they'll be home to see us again in november. can't wait!

vicky the cook

we had another fun day. we drove out to downtown minneapolis to sightsee and to look for raising cane's which has some delicious chicken fingers. anthony and i first tried that place in vegas, and so i was excited when i found out they have a bunch of locations in minnesota. so anyway, after lunch, we went to sebastian joe's which supposedly has the best ice cream in the world. i tried their oreo ice cream, which was indeed pretty delicious. we drove around the "city of lakes" a little more after dessert and then ended up at lake calhoun, which is one of the bigger lakes in the area. for dinner, jennifer's new friend, vicky, invited the whole family over to her house. jenn was excited when she found out that vicky lived in the same community as them, especially because vicky cooks them lots of filipino food. jenn says she always stops by the house to give them something to eat. she is a very sweet and generous lady. but still, we were not prepared to see the freaking FEAST that she prepared for us today. vicky cooked us two types of chicken, pancit, lumpia, fried rice, two kinds of soup, porkchops, and another filipino dish that i don't know the name of. there were only 7 of us that went to her house, but she cooked enough to feed like 30 people. seriously. that was very nice of her! i'm happy to know that jenn, ryan, silla, and serena have already met good people that can keep them company over here.

we finally got to jennifer's house a little after 1am this morning. priscilla and serena were obviously already sleeping, but we woke them up anyway. we were just so excited to see them! (= around lunchtime, serena ate solid food for the first time ever! she liked it, but didn't know what to do with the rice cereal once it was in her mouth. hehe! so anyway, we all headed down to the mall of america in the afternoon, where we had lunch at kokomo's, did a little shopping, and hung out in the amusement park in the middle of the mall. the mall was pretty big, but nothing like i expected. it was a fun day hanging out with the minnesotans who we'd been missing so dearly!

ellen the passenger

my dad dropped rianne, ricky, anthony, and me off at the airport after work today, and our flight ended up being delayed an hour! we were all so anxious to just get to minnesota already. i was pretty tired by the time we got on the plane, so i took a short nap. i woke up, however, when the girl sitting next to me went back to her window seat after using the bathroom. she never asked me or anthony to move out of her way.. instead she just climbed over us! haha. ellen is originally from minnesota but has been living in LA for the past 10 years. she said she was nervous about being back in the cold weather. fortunately, it was only 49 degrees when we got off the plane, unlike the -60 degrees that she's been in in the past. that's cuh-razy!!!! but yeah, when i asked her if i could take her picture, she decided that she wanted to vogue. what a weirdo. haha.

meli the carry-on

we went to carson today to do some laundry. my mom brought a small suitcase down to the living room 'cause anthony needed to borrow one for this weekend's trip. but then look who decided to crash the party. haha. i think meli wants to come to minnesota with us tomorrow. she always sits on/inside suitcases, as if we take them out for her. her fur got all over the place, so i had to clean it all up with some masking tape. rude.
