world of color

the homies and i met up after work and then headed over to california adventure to watch the new "world of color" water show. nina was able to convince some workers to let us into the viewing area even though we didn't all have fast passes, but the only two sections available were in the very back and the very front. we decided on the front, which is also known as the splash zone. the show was super cool, but the thing that made the whole experience most memorable was when we practically got rained on!!! hahaha. there was a pretty consistent flow of mist hitting us through most of the show, but at one point, out of nowhere, it felt like someone was pouring buckets of water onto us. hahaha. we all got so wet. it was hilarious.

gelly's belly

gel and grace were in my area while i was at work earlier, so they asked me to join them for lunch! what a treat! luckily, i wasn't very busy with work, so we ate and chit chatted at wahoo's for a while. while we were taking this picture, i wanted to be sure to include baby sage. can you see her? she is currently hanging out inside gelly's belly!

oh my gosh. i have no real picture to use for today's post because i practically slept the whole day away! haha. anthony was out all day biking and golfing, so i just stayed home to relax. i meant to go to church, but i snoozed through most of the evening. what a loser. haha. i did get some much needed rest, though. lazy lazy day. (=

toy story 3

we watched toy story 3 at the el capitan earlier. the whole experience was lots of fun. first, the theater itself is super cute. there was a guy playing disney songs on an organ before the movie started. they also gave away four disneyland tickets to one lucky person in the audience.. and that lucky person happened to be nina!!! haha. it was so random, but very well deserved because she put the whole night together. the movie was very sweet, but i (surprisingly) did not cry. =P after the movie, we used our wristbands to get into the carnival that they set up behind the theater. it was a very nice addition to the whole movie experience. i love disney!

mandy

earlier this afternoon, anthony and i went to his niece's 1st birthday party in torrance. it was actually our first time meeting her, but she was very sweet and friendly (to me at least). her cousin, michael, was also a total cutie. he kept talking to me and even jumped in this picture when he saw anthony snapping the shot. haha. kids are so cute. yakiniku

we celebrated denise and gennie's birthdays tonight at gyu-kaku. it was our first time having yakiniku (grilled meat, jbbq style) and we really enjoyed it. the restaurant was super cute. the birthday girls were cute, too. cheoww! haha.

i was looking for something in my purse earlier at work, pulling things out to move them out of the way. and then when i looked down out at my desk i saw this. haha. doesn't it just scream professionalism?! yeah. right. (=

headbands and boba

jenn and i went to the mall earlier because she was shopping for something to wear to the wedding she's going to this weekend. she ended up buying lots of accessories. she is cute enough to get away with fun headbands. i, clearly, am not. hahaha! my head is weirdly shaped. whatever, though. after shopping, we went to get some oreo flavored milk tea from go-go.

chicken nut bread

today was venus' birthday! yay! we met up with the family in glendale to have dinner at max's. venus and i have been craving their fried chicken for so long now, so it was very satisfying when we finally had some. deeee-licious! we still have leftovers for tomorrow, too. woohoo! happy birthday, sista!

noodles

haha, this picture is so ugly! anthony and i went to del amo mall after work earlier and had dinner at our new favorite place, genghis khan. i was trying to take the picture with noodles hanging out of my mouth, but they were so hot that they were burning my lips, so i just kept sucking them up. now it looks like i have a worm coming out. gross! and i don't know what anthony was looking at, nor why his head looks so huge compared to mine. ugly ugly.. but the noodles were good!

daddy's day

happy father's day!! the kiddos and i drove out to tehachapi this morning to meet up with my parents at their other house. we went to a lunch buffet at a pizza place called pacino's and then just hung out at the house for a bit. i felt bad that we couldn't spend too much time there, but we needed to make time for...


..my dad's surprise party!! june 20 also happens to be my dad's birthday! we always feel bad that his birthday is so close to father's day, so this year we wanted to clearly acknowledge both of these special days for him. we decided to throw him a very simple surprise party. while my parents were at church, we picked up some bbq party platters and then rushed to their house to decorate and set everything up. i hope you had a happy birthday AND a happy father's day, daddy!

karate kids

we celebrated father's day a day early on anthony's side of the family. we had dinner at hokkaido in signal hill and then went to watch karate kid afterward. dinner was delicious and the movie was very enjoyable. good and good!

empty workplace

i think all my coworkers are still celebrating the lakers' victory, because i spent the majority of the day at work by myself! two people came in the morning, but they left before lunchtime. i kinda enjoyed being alone, though. afterall, the only time i can get away with taking a picture of myself pretending to work is when i'm positive that nobody is going to walk into my office and wonder what the heck i'm doing. haha.

world champion lakers

gennie and i met up at wingstop after work to hang out and watch the laker game. we were sitting directly under the tv, though, so our necks were hurting from having to look up so much. haha. the game was soooo stressful, but we were both happy when the lakers took the championship. neither one of us watches too much basketball, but it was still fun watching the game with a bunch of other screaming fans. i was just afraid to go home and watch with anthony, because he's the loudest screaming fan i know! haha.

after the game, we went to celebrate by getting some boba. yay! (=

max's discount

my coworker and i met up with laurenne and max again for lunch. this time, we went to a persian restaurant called orchid for their lunch buffet. one of the waiters at the restaurant said our bill would be half off 'cause max was wearing a lakers shirt, but he lied. what a tease. haha.

dinner with the world traveler

mike just recently came back from his three month journey to southeast asia. he visited so many countries, and so of course he had many exciting stories to share. we caught up over dinner at azuma in gardena. he gave me some goodies from three different countries, too! thanks, mike!

house warming

as of today, my little sister, rianne, is officially a home owner! yay!!! anthony and i stopped by her new condo after dinner tonight. we decided to warm up her home by taking jumping pictures. who knew that taking ten consective pictures would be so tiring?! these were the quietest jumping pictures i've ever taken, though, 'cause we didn't want to be too loud for her neighbors downstairs. it took so much energy to jump softly without laughing. maybe that's why we were so out of breath. =P

earth-shattering conversation

jenn and i had dinner at guppy's tonight. during one of our conversations, i asked her a very casual question and she made a face as if i was crazy for asking it. it turned out that she was just reacting to the earthquake that was going on. haha. i thought that was so funny.

the better garden

anthony was in a bad mood after his lakers lost at the boston garden, so i suggested we go have dinner at olive garden to cheer up. looks like my plan failed. sheesh. at least eating there made ME happy! (=

baby shower

today was christine & jimmy's baby shower! hooray! the party was a success. so many people came early to help set up, and then stayed late to help clean. i guess that just goes to show that christine, jimmy, and baby boy are loved! yay. i can't wait to meet my new nephew! (=

cyclops

this is about as exciting as my friday night got. haha. i spent most of the night running around picking up last minute items for tomorrow's baby shower. i thought anthony and i were gonna go out for a late dinner when i got home, but apparently he was sleeptalking when he agreed to it this morning. haha. he had no recollection of the conversation we had before i left for work, when i told him where i wanted to have dinner. so yeah, he had already gone out to eat. whatever. not a big deal. but this explains why the highlight of my night was standing in front of the bathroom mirror taking pictures of the cyclops staring back at me. womp womp.

pretzel dipping

hahaha. what a beautiful picture! sike. we spent the evening making the giveaways for christine & jimmy's baby shower. it was a team effort (even though some of the team members [aka my dad] never actually volunteered to be a part of the team). we made chocolate dipped pretzels. dipping the pretzels in the chocolate was easy, but everyone else seemed to have a hard time drizzling the pretzels with the blue vanilla. rianne was really trying her hardest, but everyone kept telling her that i was doing a much better job. hahaha. it was all, "karen is so good," and, "rianne doesn't know what she's doing." how sad!! my mom took this picture while i was drizzling away, but then yelled at rianne for ruining the picture by not moving out of the way. poor baby!!

small world

today's picture is totally random. i had plans to meet up with carla after work. she was supposed to meet me at my house in torrance, but because there was so much traffic on my way home from costa mesa, i offered to meet her in cerritos instead. we randomly decided to meet up at salo salo. then five minutes after we got seated at our table, jenn and mark walked in! they had plans to have dinner with kevin and nina, but randomly decided to meet at salo salo at the last minute, too. such a small world.

so anyway, after finishing our dinner, carla and i went to get dessert at guppys. we caught up while eating our giant banana split. i always have a good time hanging out with carlita. we never run out of things to talk about. i guess that's why we've been friends forever. CK1 for life!!

hip hop abs

local place

anthony and i have been eating at local place for years, but today we took advantage of two new discoveries. for our actual dinner, anthony ordered one pound of kalua (a la cart) instead of having to order two meals worth of kalua which it takes to fill him up. it was a lot cheaper and a lot more food.. so he still has enough leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! and then!!! for dessert, we finally tried their shaved ice! i've noticed the "shave ice" menu board many times before, but since i always thought they were just regular snow cones i never bothered ordering. so we finally got some tonight and it was good. yay, local place!

hip hop recital

venus and i went to the grand warner theater in san pedro tonight for grace's hip hop recital. grace only had one dance scene in the whole musical, but she did so well. homegirl can really pop and lock it. haha!! the only thing i didn't like about her performance was her costume. she and her teammates were dressed up as snakes. that's gross. =P

chloe belle

anthony and i spent the afternoon celebrating chloe and kaelib's dedication. the little brother and sister duo did so well when they were being dedicated up on the stage! after the ceremony at church, we went to bj's in cerritos for a buffet lunch. chloe was nice and chill at the reception, too. what a cutie.

baby shower preparations

rianne and i spent a lot of today preparing for the baby shower we are throwing next week. we went shopping for decorations in the morning, and then set up a craft workshop in the evening. we got a lot done. i still can't figure out why we look so sweaty in this picture, though. hahaha. it wasn't even hot. what in the world?! it's gross but i think it's funny. sorry, rianne. =P

midweek fun

anthony and i had an eventful wednesday. we had bbq spare ribs for dinner at cambino's, hung out with mickey and minnie at disneyland, and then got some shaved ice for dessert. good stuff.

company lunch

today i went to lunch with my coworkers to celebrate all the birthdays from the month of may. out of our nine employees, four of them were born in may. so that means that every year the four of them have to squish their celebrations together. haha. this time, we had lunch at california pizza kitchen in irvine. the food was good, and i still have enough leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. score!
