toni was in town once again so we met up at thai bbq earlier for some quick QT. we took another picture after, but this one makes me laugh because it exaggerates our salt-and-pepperness. (=

silla came home with us after the party last night to sleep over. before dropping her off at her dad's house earlier, the two of us went to the mall and then to blenders for some calamari and boba. love her!

russellmania

today was russellmania! despite the gloomy weather, lots and lots of family and friends came out to celebrate this boy's baptism and first birthday! as serena would say, he is loved SO much!

gruezo baby shower

today was a busy day! in between russell's two celebrations, we made our way over to carson for kevin and nina's baby shower! we weren't able to stay very long, but i didn't want to miss it. anthony, reese, and i are very excited for baby nico's arrival!

russell's baptism

say hello to the newest member of the catholic church! russell was baptized at st. christoper's in west covina this morning. it was a small, private ceremony, but i was happy to be there to witness and celebrate with him. yay, russy!!

6 months

today reese turned 6 months old! i can't believe it's already been half a year! in the past month, he has learned to roll around in both directions like a pro. he started eating solids. he sleeps on his side now (instead of his back), which anthony and i say is because he knows he has a flat head. he has really started to develop a sense of humor. he not only laughs a lot, but he makes us laugh by doing things or making funny sounds (usually in his monster voice). and of course, he kisses!

reese makes the funniest faces. this is what he looked like while anthony was smothering him with kisses this morning. he makes the same face whenever i stick the thermometer in his ear to take his temperature. =P

weird

yuck, i was so out-of-it tonight. carla came to torrance to visit and also treat me to dinner at musha. i unintentionally ordered a ridiculous amount of food, kept dropping my chopsticks, and kept forgetting what i was talking about mid-story. i told you i was tired! regardless, i still had a nice night with carla. as we seem to do every single time we see each other, we still found interest in talking about things that happened back in junior high and elementary school. we've always been big weirdos anyway, so i guess my questionable behavior tonight was pretty normal afterall. p.s. when we got back home the boys were totally knocked out so we posed with anthony on the couch behind us.

new clothes

ever since becoming a mom, my world has been all about reese, with very little focus on myself. i guess that's becoming quite apparent, because a number of people have been asking me if i'm tired lately. haha yikes! last week i did something that i almost never do.. i spent $$$ of myself. i'm tired of looking and feeling so frumpy, so i ordered a bunch of new things on forever21.com. the package arrived today. woohoo! i'm excited about that. but now the next step is actually making the effort to look more "put together." and seeing how i didn't even manage to zip my shorts all the way up, i've got a long way to go! haha.

carla's bridal bunch

i stole this picture from carla's facebook. tonight we had a "meet & greet" with all her bridesmaids. we had a tasty dinner at bottega louie, followed by some delicious macarons gifted to us by both the bride-to-be and her MOH, missy! so much love being spread around. i'm so excited for the big day!!

we went to corona tonight to celebrate eanna's birthday! i can't believe she's a teenager now. and i can't believe that in three days, silla is gonna be a teenager, too!

jenn treated me to dinner and boba at cha2o tonight! after we got back to her house, she didn't have a key to get inside so we sat in my car 'til mark got home. he felt so bad, but we probably would've ended up doing the exact same thing even if she wasn't locked out! ha!

christine picked me up from work earlier and treated me out to lunch! i had a fun time with her and babygirl. isn't my niece cute?!

rianne's treat

we headed out to downtown disney this afternoon because rianne wanted to treat us to some sandwiches at the newly opened earl of sandwich! we also got some beignets and then i traded pins for a bit. thanks for the treat, rianne!

birthday dinner

i wanted filipino food for dinner, so we headed out to artesia to eat at magic wok. jenn and mark joined us, too.

birthday lunch

it's my birthday! i requested lunch at la creperie with my family. wish granted. woohoo!

anthony's birthday

today is anthony's 32nd birthday! he took the day off for some free golf, and then we all went to dinner at tamaen with his family. we were trying to recreate this picture, which was taken at the same place two years ago. wrong!

halloween

happy halloween! we dressed reese up as a teddy bear, and he was so cute and cuddly! we stayed home to pass out candy for a while, and then went to del amo mall for some trick or treating. fun!

foam fingers

i ordered a bunch of foam fingers for russell's birthday party, aka russellmania! these will be used as both decorations and favors for the kids. i thought they were perfect, considering the fact that we're celebrating him turning ONE! well, they ended up being not-so-perfect because some of them say, "we're #1," but i'll make it work. =P

my bodyguard

we're still scared of anthony so reese and i slept in the living room again last night. when anthony came out to greet us a good morning, reese still looked a little unsure about getting too close. haha.

mush

poor anthony!!! he was so excited for his race this morning, but ended up having to skip it because he was sick throwing up all night! i felt sooo bad for him. but because we're not entirely sure what we're dealing with (food poisoning vs stomach flu), reese and i got the heck out of there. we hung out in carson where my mom fed him carrots. he liked it!

gross hair

anthony's been growing his hair out 'cause he wanted to do a funny haircut for his costume for tomorrow's rock-n-roll halloween half marathon in LA. he called me into the bathroom when it looked like this. i was disgusted. he was, too. he ended up just shaving it all off. haha.

children's hospital

anthony and i both had to leave work early today because we had an appointment to see a neurosurgeon at children's hospital of LA. sounds scary, right? we just wanted to get his head assessed, since so many people have been telling us that his head looks flat. we asked his doctor about it at his appointment last month, so she referred us to the specialist just in case. the doctor today wasn't too concerned. he said there was "significant flattening" but felt pretty confident that it would round out more in time. we have another follow-up in six weeks, so keep your fingers crossed that his pancake head improves by then. it's all cosmetic, anyway, so we're happy to know it won't affect his brain development either way. i'm glad we at least we took the step to find out what we're dealing with. and the best part of the trip? the view! we were on the 13th floor so we had a beautiful view of LA.

mommy lover

anthony took a video of reese doing "kiss mommy" and although there are some cute shots of him actually smooching my cheeks, i think one of the funniest parts about his "trick" is the look he gives afterwards. he always turns to look at whoever it is telling him to "kiss mommy." this look was especially funny, because it was directed at anthony. reese is a total mama's boy. he already has a sense of humor, so it really does feel like he was trying to tell his dad, "yeah i kissed her! what are you going to do about it?!" he's so funny.

oh man, today was so sad. i went into work late because reese had a fever this morning. he had three shots yesterday, and seemed fine (or was he) but was burning up this morning. nothing happy about it, but he sure did look cute with the wet washcloth on his head.

i walked over to the couch earlier and found reese lounging like this. he was like, "outta my way, lady. i'm trying to watch bubble guppies."

the mejia gang met up at claws tonight for dinner. seafood galore! yum yum yum!

uh oh! look who's walking!! goooo, russy! i also like how serena always manages to steal the spotlight.

filipino potluck

all the homies met up at gen and alex's house tonight for a filipino potluck. with the crazy amount of food that was there, we were saying it was like a legit filipino party. after eating, we were all so stuffed and so lazy. man, we are old. haha.

reese loves looking at the boy in the mirror. i wonder when he's gonna realize that he's looking at himself. maybe he already knows!

din din a go go

we went to narbonne high for "din din a go go." basically it's just a weekly meet-up of various food trucks. there were over ten trucks there tonight. we decided on "white rabbit" where we got a sisig bowl, adobo burrito, and adobo taco. yum!

5 months

reese turned 5 months old today! this past month, he has become an expert on rolling from back to front. he is very vocal, but instead of "talking" like he used to, he prefers to growl like a monster (like his dad!) and blow raspberries. haha. he has much better hand control, and he finally reaches out to grab things. anything he grabs ends up in his mouth, including his feet!

baby noelle

after picking up some boba, gennie and i went to anna's house to meet baby noelle! it's weird to say this, but i had a craving to meet her! i've been wanting to visit since she was born five days ago, but i haven't had time. i'm glad it finally worked out. she is sooooooo tiny!!!

random boba run

i told gennie that i felt like getting boba earlier. within minutes, we met up at oko cafe. and it just so happened that zacel got there at the exact same time we did! it was all so fast and so random! haha.

5/15 year anniversary

today was our 5/15 year anniversary! weeeee! we started the celebration by eating our favorite mexican food at cafe rio for lunch. and then we went to the venice canals to walk around. i've been wanting to go check out the canals for a while now so i was happy to finally go. very cool!


then later in the evening, we hung out at downtown disney. we wanted to go somewhere fun for reese, too. he enjoyed looking around at everything, and would complain when we put him back in his stroller. we've spent a lot of our past anniversaries at disneyland, but since we don't have passes right now, DTD was good enough. we had dinner at la brea bakery.. just paninis and disneyland's yummy clam chowder. nothing too fancy, but we had a good time. (=

real live monster

reese finally wore his "monster" outfit today. this was the first outfit i bought for him, back when he was barely the size of a cantaloupe. remember?

i like to take reese's picture in the morning when i drop him off so i can stare at it while i'm at work all day.

kiss mommy

reese has a cool trick that we call "kiss mommy." basically, he just kisses me on command. it's so cute and so sweet. my mom tried to capture it on camera, but then he stopped. he always just stops what he's doing and stares when a camera is pointed at him.

serena likes to hijack jenn's phone, and so sometimes i end up receiving texts like this. haha. love it!

rianne's triathlon

we woke up early this morning to head out to hermosa beach for rianne's first triathlon! we were all really proud of her even though she came in last place. haha jk!
