mashed potatoes

on the way to church earlier, we heard a commercial for wingstop on the radio. so as soon as we got out of church, the first thing i thought of was fried chicken! we ended up at popeyes, because in addition to the chicken, i wanted mashed potatoes, too. popeyes has the best mashed potatoes ever! deeeelicious!

garlic breath

after the boys went golfing (again!), they picked me and lauren up and then we went to versailles for dinner. my garlic chicken and anthony's garlic pork were both extra delicious today, but that also meant that my breath was extra garlicky afterward. haha. yikes. we went to venus' house after dinner to play "battle of the sexes" and i kept burping up garlic. very ladylike, right?

fake meat

since anthony left me alone on a friday night (he went snowboarding), jenn came to the rescue and offered to be my hot date! cheowww! we ended up going to el segundo where we stopped by anthro and then ate dinner at veggie grill, which is a vegan burger joint. rianne recently won a drawing from them, so they catered lunch for her whole department at work. they also gave her a stack of gift cards with random amounts on them. i picked three cards out of her stack, and when i was paying at the restaurant, i found out that the first card i handed the lady had $25 on it! wow! jenn and i had a sandwich with "carne asada" in it. that's the closest i'll ever get to eating beef! and since the last time i ate real beef was 14 years ago, i'd have to say that it seemed like the real deal to me. haha. but what do i know? the "chickin" in my soup tasted pretty legit, too. yay for fake meat!

fast food

i met up with denise and gennie at koraku for a quick dinner earlier. we were limited on time 'cause they had a movie to catch. food was still good, though. gennie treated us! next time it's on me, bebang! and hopefully next time we can hang out a little longer. (=

coworkers

i had to drop something off in cerritos for work earlier. and since my coworker, alice, felt bad that i had to drive all the way there, she told me she would take me to guppys for an early dinner. fine with me! i think it's funny how age doesn't seem to be an issue when it comes to hanging out with coworkers. like when i was still working in irvine, there were some people my age in the building, but i naturally ended up hanging out with the older crowd instead. alice, for example, is only a few years younger than my parents, but i still feel like she's my homegirl. haha. it's just weird because if i didn't already know her and i saw her at the mall, i'd never think that she was fun to hang out with. but because the work environment puts you in contact with a wide assortment of people from all walks of life, you end up making friends with people who you wouldn't otherwise befriend. i wonder if my mom hangs out with people my age! haha.

orchids

oh my gosh. what have i gotten myself into? i am really not excited about posting so many solo pictures of myself. how lame! but whatever. here i am with my orchids. we have had three seperate orchid plants now. the blooms usually last 3-4 months. we were unsuccessful at getting the last two to rebloom, so we ended up having to start over with a new plant each time. i've had these babies since november. i love seeing them whenever i walk into the kitchen. sometimes i even say hi to them. haha! really!

meli

i went to visit meli earlier. doesn't she look happy to be in my arms? haha. yeah right. i don't usually carry her so awkwardly, but she was upset that i picked her up so i had to hold her in such a way that she wouldn't be able to scratch my face. doesn't that sound nice? =P i am making her sound so mean, but she's really just a typical brat cat. i know she loves me, she just likes to be in charge. she doesn't like to be picked up unless it's her idea. puh-lease. she's not the boss of me.

dirty hands

tonight for dinner we went out to celebrate gel's birthday! the original plan was to eat at boiling crab, but after waiting two hours and STILL being far from the top of the list, we decided to take our hungry mouths over to claws instead. we ordered so much food, but surprisingly we were able to finish most of it. my hands still smell like garlic, though!

arts & crafts

i spent the day with eva, gail, and gen at the orange county convention center for a craft convention! a lot of the booths had little projects that demonstrated how to use their products. but it was cool 'cause you could make stuff to take home. my favorite mini workshop was with a lady who taught us how to use a sewing machine! we ended up making flower brooches (which gen and i are holding). fun stuff!

hooters

anthony and i had dinner with carla and geof at hooters in anaheim. it was funny 'cause geof said that of all the people he knows, no one else goes to that restaurant as often as carla and i do. haha! what can i say? we love hooters! and the chicken ain't so bad either. >=) muahaha.

picture texts

i know i'm cheating with this picture because i am not in it, but my mini-me is in it, so it'll do. i love when the minnesotans send me picture texts. ryan sent this picture to me last night on jennifer's birthday. i looked at it so many times today. it makes me both happy and sad at the same time. i think serena looks sooooo cute and happy, but she also looks so much bigger. i actually even cried a little after seeing this picture 'cause i was sad that i wasn't able to spend more time with baby serena. she's gonna be in college before i know it! okay just kidding. but you know.. it's bittersweet.

ramen on a rainy day

anthony and i wanted to try something new tonight, so we decided to go to hakata ramen shinsengumi in gardena for dinner. i know this place got really high reviews on yelp, and anthony's japanese friend recommended it, but i don't know.. we were not impressed. it's not that the food was bad, but i think our problem is that we compare everything to daikokuya. that place is still the best in my opinion. but oh well. the service at hakata was really good. and it was still nice to have ramen on a rainy day!

p.s. that sweater makes my boobs look lopsided! hahaha.

p.s.s. today was jennifer's 30th birthday! happy birthday, manang!

miniature apples

anthony and i went to vons earlier to pick up some sudafed and ginger ale (as suggested by gen and jen). as we were walking through the produce section, i noticed their miniature apples. how freaking cute! haha. i don't know why seeing a miniature version of something excites me so much. i am easily amused. (=

taking a nap

the rain makes me lazy. i was feeling a little dizzy again earlier, so i decided to lay on the couch 'cause i wanted to close my eyes for a while. i ended up taking a three hour nap! woops. i guess it was worth it, though, 'cause i am feeling much better now. i love naps!

noodle world

i'm not sure what is going on with me, but i've been having really bad neck and upper back pains the past few days. and today along with the neck pain, i got a serious case of vertigo! haha. what the heck, man?! i'm always so sickly! but despite feeling like doodoo, i still hung out with the girls. venus, lauren, and grace picked me up and then the four of us went to eat at noodle world in pasadena. it's always nice to eat soup on a rainy day! and even though i felt like throwing up by the time we got home, i'm still glad i went out 'cause at least i had some fun instead of staying home feeling miserable all day.

christine

today we celebrated christine's birthday one more time. we had dinner at guppy teahouse in anaheim hills and then hung out at chris' condo afterwards. half of the people who we were expecting were not able to make it, and those of us who DID make it were not feeling good. haha. it was just an "off" day for all of us. but i'm glad we still made the effort to hang out because christine is worth it! (=

chicken wings

anthony and i were supposed to go to either disneyland or hooters today, but i took a nap and didn't wake up 'til after 10PM! ha! so since it was too late to go to either of those places, we just picked up dinner from wingstop and came back home to watch forgetting sarah marshall. good enough.

dinner at ruth's chris

we just got back from celebrating christine's "apo bakit" birthday at ruth's chris steak house in irvine. my auntie bab is so funny. when she greeted me, anthony, and rianne, she said, "happy birthday!" to each of us as she gave us a hug. haha. our food was very good. the waiter even gave me a free dessert 'cause i was the only one who didn't order the special and he didn't want me to feel left out. sweet!

gumbo and hot chocolate

because i've been working too much lately, and because i'm still sick, my boss texted me last night to tell me to take my mind off of work for the next few days. he told me to RELAX. i will admit that it felt weird waking up this morning knowing that i didn't have to work, but i got over the weirdness real quick and just enjoyed my work-free day. i haven't had one of these since Christmas! (=

so anyway, anthony and i went to norm's for dinner tonight. i had a big bowl of gumbo and two hot chocolates!

boba

anthony went out for a while earlier, and before he came home he texted me asking if i wanted some boba. yes please!

i snuck up on anthony earlier to take this picture. haha. i look like a vampire! this flu bug is really kicking my butt. and i am still swamped with work. but whatever, life ain't that bad. i still have much to be thankful for. 'cause even when i'm sick and tired, i can always just walk into the next room and count on anthony to make me happy again. (=

driving

today i had to drive to costa mesa to drop something off for work. i met up with my other boss at our new office and was able to check it out. it looks pretty nice so far! and even though i was feeling much worse than i was yesterday, i was happy that i had an excuse to get out of the house and enjoy some sunshine. plus, it's been a while since i've had a relaxing drive like that. there was no traffic the whole way there. call me crazy, but sometimes i think driving is so soothing.

people who aren't afraid of me

so it turns out that i have the FLU! and even though i'm scary and gross to be around, these guys still wanted to hang out with me! haha. so after sleeping most of the day, anthony and i met up with the fam at guppys for some chicken wings and milk tea. i had to pick something up from my boss' house in cerritos anyway, so it worked out great.

krispy kreme donuts

while i was up working last night, i jokingly asked anthony if he would go get me some krispy kreme donuts. he actually did! he so nice! and despite waking up sick, i was so happy this morning 'cause i remembered that there were still two donuts left. hurray!

lunch with jenn

i had to return some things i borrowed from jenn, so the two of us met up for lunch at blenders. i don't know why this is the first time we thought to have lunch together, especially since she works only a few miles from my house. lunch was kind of rushed 'cause i arrived late (my bad) and she had to go back to work. i guess i'm just used to spending hours talking inside my car whenever the two of us hang out. haha. next time!

purses

after having dinner at el rocoto in artesia, anthony's mom drove us up the street to her friend's house to look at some purses! her friend, joyce, owns a company called bella maven, and the back room in her house is set up like a little boutique with purses, cute clothes, and jewelry all over the place! venus and i were allowed to pick any purse we wanted as part of our Christmas presents. i picked the black one that grace is wearing. cutes!

milk and cookies

okay hopefully the rest of the year will be less busy work-wise. less work means more time for fun. and fun times mean i don't have to take solo pictures! haha. i already feel embarassed that there are so many pictures of me on this blog. i was even considering taking it down, but then i realized it is way too early in the year for me to be breaking my resolution. i'm not usually a pessimistic person, but these past few months have just been tough on me. so anyway, since i was having a bad day, anthony baked me some chocolate chip cookies!! so sweet!

thai bbq

venus wanted company for dinner earlier so i met up with her at thai bbq for some pork spare ribs and chicken noodles. i know i eat out a lot, but usually during the week, going out to eat is the only time i get out of my house. plus, it's always fun hanging out with my peeps. i love dinner dates!

tuna sandwich

after church earlier, anthony was super hungry. we decided to have dinner at the habit since we'd been talking about that place the past couple nights. there were only a few people inside the restaurant when we got there, but as soon as we ordered our food and picked a table, the place got packed! i guess we got there right on time. anthony enjoyed his teriyaki burger and i enjoyed my albacore tuna sandwich. yum!

surprise bags

anthony was craving a shredded pork bowl from daikokuya earlier, so we headed down to little tokyo with venus, vince, lauren, and peter at dinnertime. the waiting list at the restaurant was super long, so us girls made good use of the time by visiting the sanrio store right across the street! we each decided to buy a $20 "surprise bag" 'cause they were advertised as having up to $80 worth of merchandise inside of them. we were sooooo excited to open them, and when we finally did it was hilarious!! we were surprised alright! i was not thrilled about what i found inside mine, but the experience of it all made it well worth the money. (=

getting my car washed

after many months of neglect, we finally took julius to get a bath today! i can't even remember the last time i got a car wash. that's terrible. while we were watching him pass through the conveyor belt, we noticed that one of the windows (anthony's) was not rolled all the way up! the guys washing the car started panicking and had super nervous facial expressions as they glanced over at me, but were probably surprised to find me laughing. i have no idea why i thought it was funny, but i was cracking up. it wasn't so funny once i got into my wet car, though. =P but at least my car is finally clean!

celebrating the new year

happy new year! i've decided that my new year's resolution for 2010 is to document at least one thing that makes me happy each day. i'm all about being positive this year. i spent way too much of the past few months inside my house working. i would even go days at a time without seeing the sun. so here's to a year full of happiness: 365 HAPPY faces! (=

we started our new year the way we always do.. at my parents' house! we never do anything super exciting. we just have the tradition of rattling coins and toasting champagne glasses as soon as the clock strikes 12:00. anthony and i thought it would be funny to dress up this year because we usually just sit around in junky house clothes. so here i am with my snazzy hubby and my fat cat getting ready for a year of happy faces. weeee!
