new year's eve

we took our annual Christmas photo tonight. this completes the year! 2013 was lots of fun and we're looking forward to more happy times in 2014! make it a good one!

we had our annual homies Christmas party at our house today. we all had lots of fun, even the little ones!

reese got this cool buzz lightyear power wheels car for Christmas. he was scared of it yesterday but earlier today he just hopped on and took off. it was so funny!

sleepyhead

i didn't have to go to work today so i spent the whole day with reesey! he is growing even more attached to me, and didn't even want to be separated from me while i ate my dinner. i was eating shrimp and it was too hard to peel with him on my lap so anthony brought him to his room to read some books. he screamed and screamed, but finally quieted down. that's when anthony realized that he actually fell asleep! haha. he was absolutely pooped because he didn't even want to be "away" during a nap. he was awake the whole day! crazy baby.

expectation vs. reality

finally decorated my tree tonight! i am happy with the outcome but i want to add a little more brown. maybe i'll make some twine-wrapped ornaments.

ululation

it probably looks like i'm hurting him but this is part of our nightly routine after he brushes his teeth. i always wash his face, and he used to blow raspberries into my hand, which eventually evolved into him yelling into my hand. so then it just got more and more vigorous and now we have this ridiculous ululation-sounding ritual that i'm sure even the neighbors can hear.

emily's 1st birthday party

we had a lot of fun at emily's first birthday party at frisco's. it was so simple yet so special. chris is always so good at balancing out the two. we love our pretty baby and can't wait to watch her grow!

allergist

we finally met the allergist today! i requested a skin test to confirm that he is not allergic to strawberries, fish, shellfish, and tree nuts. he had 15 test injections and thankfully only one flared up! what a relief! so it turns out that he is only allergic to peanuts and walnuts. walnut is a tree nut, so the doctor recommended that we just continue to avoid ALL nuts since they are all usually processed together. will do! we were saying that it's funny that we were relieved because most people would probably want to see ZERO positives, but we were seriously prepared to see them all flare up. so happy that didn't happen!

unfortunately we didn't gain any new insight on how severe his allergies are, but based on his first two reactions we are hoping that it is more of a skin reaction vs anaphylaxis. but obviously we're not taking chances either way. at least now we know exactly what to avoid. and after friday's incident, we know that we need to be extra cautious even in unlikely situations.

aaaaaaaaaaaaand, to celebrate his non-allergy, today reese had fish for the first time ever! we eat fish a lot so i'm glad we don't have to be so careful when we want to enjoy our food.
