grandma's 1 year

this past wednesday was my grandma's one year in heaven anniversary. today we had a big family party at my parents' house to celebrate her life.

juggling

this is what i do the majority of the time at home while the boys are awake: try to juggle both of them while they fight for my undivided attention.

we got home late last night so nobody wanted to get out of bed this morning.

last day

today was the last day of my conference, and while i was listening to a bunch of self-proclaimed nerds talk about a lot of nerdy things, the boys were out having lots of fun at the Denver Aquarium. they picked me up around 4:00 when my conference was done and then we headed to the airport, with a quick pitstop in aurora to get some filipino food for dinner. goodbye, denver! it's been fun!

denver museum of nature and science

i had a good day at the convention while the boys had fun at the denver museum of nature and science. for dinner we walked down the street (even though it was literally freezing outside) and had some burgers and ice cream at 5280.

Snow

After my first day at the conference, we decided to drive south a bit to check out Park Meadows Mall. I read that it was "very Colorado" and indeed it was! Such nice architecture. It was nice to have a warm place to stroll around, 'cause it's been quite cold the last couple days. We were even surprised that it just started to snow on our way out! So exciting for us even though it was just a light dusting. Even though it's cold here, it's not unpleasant at all. It's nice and crisp!

Red Rocks Amphitheater

This place wasn't even on our list, but we're so glad the owner of the sandwich shop we ate at earlier recommended it! We didn't even know it existed. The boys had lots of fun walking around there. We also went to the park, took a nap in the car, checked out the Denver Botanic Gardens, and switched hotels. My conference is here at the new hotel so it'll be super convenient for me to go up and down throughout the day.

Off to Denver

I have a conference in Denver this coming week so I decided to bring the boys along and make a family trip out of it. Actually, I wouldn't have even agreed to come without them. Attachment parenting, yeah!! So?!

We were pretty tired from the day of traveling so we took it easy today and just hung out at our hotel, had pizza for dinner, shaved snow for dessert, and then walked it off at target. Haha. We always go to target while on vacation.

My dad donated his old car today. He was not sad at all, and instead was just excited that Reese got to watch a tow truck live in action!

Ophthalmologist

Took Weston to the ophthalmologist this morning because a family friend (who is a pediatrician) was concerned that he might be cross-eyed. I mentioned it to his own pediatrician, and although she didn't personally think so, she felt it was worth checking out. I'm happy to report that he is not cross-eyed, just funny looking. :)

Always fighting

I'm tired of breaking up fights between these two. So many timeouts, so much yelling, so many forced apologies and hugs/kisses. I'm currently experimenting on staying out of it and watching to see if they can figure it out themselves. So far, Reese is learning that Weston don't take no $h!+ from nobody. He's been bullied his whole life and is tired of it. Reese actually appears to be scared of Weston now. Weston is usually cordial, willing to share, and eager to play nicely alongside his brother. But once he's crossed, omg it's like a switch is flipped and he goes into attack mode. I'm hoping Reese will learn that it's not okay to pick on people, and I hope that Weston doesn't think violence is always the answer. Ughhhh. I often feel like I'm failing at this whole motherhood thing.. and wonder if I'm equipped to teach these boys how to be kind, responsible, respectable, etc. Who knew that raising children involved so much work. Haha jk. 

Valentine's Day

We had a pretty chill day. Anthony and I had our date last night, and then took the boys to Honeymee today after lunch. Everyone was happy!

We went back to Legoland today to use our free tickets. This time the Dys came, too!

Crib

This is Weston's first time sleeping in the crib! Haha. Anthony took charge of sleep-training two months ago when I stopped breastfeeding, but the two of them ended up just cosleeping on the bed in his room. Moving to the crib wasn't supposed to take this long. In some ways I feel it's a step backward at this point because he typically just walks himself over to my room when he wakes up in the morning (Anthony is usually already on his way to work by this time). No need for me to go grab him. Great for lazy moms like me!! But at the same time, he needs to learn to sleep alone. If all goes well the next few nights, we may just end up converting the crib to a toddler bed already. Orrrr, I will pick my lazy butt up to go get him. 

Meanwhile I am typing this from my 3-year old's room.. who suddenly wants me to stay with him all night long. Why is sleep so hard???

Super Bowl Sunday

We had lots of fun at the Vovos' super bowl party, even though nobody really cared about the game!

Beach day

The boys had so much fun at the beach. It was such a beautiful day!

Sawtelle

We went over to Sawtelle for the first time in a year to eat at Daikokuya. We were talking about how rare it is for us to head out to that area nowadays, especially with this crazy baby. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long for a table. We sat in the car for most of the wait while Reese napped in his car seat. We were hoping to get dessert at Honeymee afterward, but after driving by we decided that it would be too much of a hassle because it was so busy inside. Reese asked, "What happened? Why are we not going inside?" And Anthony said, "Because we have kids." Haha.

15 month check up

Weston had his 15 month check up this morning. Everything was good! He looks super skinny but it's actually only 'cause he's so stinkin' tall! 98% height, 50% weight, 70% head.

Fast food

On our way to pick up dinner from Chicken Dijon, Reese asked if it was a real restaurant. I said, "Not really. It's more like fast food." And he goes, "Fast food?! What is that?! Do they just throw the food on the table???"
