sketchy kinda day

i don't know why, but i had an "off" day today. do you ever have those days, where you just don't feel right? i cancelled plans with toni and instead just hung out at home. i kept myself busy by crafting up a bunch of decorations for serena's birthday coming up in a couple weeks. here's my professional sketch of the dessert table i plan to set up. haha.

sand bar

we met up with the homies tonight at sand bar in long beach to celebrate jonah's 30th birthday! i know this picture is ugly, but it's the only one i took. we were imitating the huge mural of a girl painted on the wall behind the DJ. she was just as pretty as we are in the picture. so.. not much!

new homeowners

i was so excited after work today because jenn and mark just got the keys to their new house! yay!!! i am so happy for them! it's a beautiful house for a beautiful couple. congratulations, my dears!

lake forest

anthony somehow convinced me to drive 12 miles in the opposite direction after work today to pick up his new golf clubs that were just delivered. i figured it would be worth the drive if i could find at least one other store out there that i wanted to visit. i ended up going to goodwill, homegoods, and pier one. i have been so obsessed with looking for home decor lately, so all three of those stores were fun to visit. unfortunately for our house (but fortunately for my wallet), i didn't buy anything. it was still nice to look around.

pinterest

ever since young house love blogged about pinterest, i have been hooked. basically, pinterest is a tool that allows you to "pin" different images that you find all around the web. i've been doing something similar for years, but this solution is so much better. you see, i have a bunch of pictures of house stuff, crafty stuff, party planning ideas, etc saved onto my work computer (don't judge me. i used to work at home, remember?). but the problem with having it stored there is that i can never look something up when i'm at home! now with pinterest, i can look at all my pretty pictures whenever i want. plus, by seeing what other people are pinning, i have access to so many more inspiring ideas. i love it!

boba

now that lent is over, i finally got to enjoy some boba tonight! i went to dolphin bay where it's only $3 for two milk teas. yum yum. too bad anthony drank the other one. =P

easter sunday

happy easter, everyone!! we had a great day. we started the morning a little later than planned, which meant we had to tweak something to prevent being late for our family lunch. so instead of going to church in san pedro where we usually go, we searched for churches in pasadena (where we were gonna spend the rest of the afternoon) and randomly ended up at holy family. the mass was absolutely packed, and the priest joked about how that only seems to happen on Easter and Christmas. but rather than frowning upon it, he said it's something we should all celebrate, because people who wouldnt otherwise be at church were suddenly there to celebrate our Lord's victory. it was a great mass, and the homily spoke directly to my heart. i pretty much cry every single time we go to church, but today was even sweeter. it's so cool when being somewhere "on accident" turns out to seem intentional afterall.

anyway, after mass, we met up with the mejia side for lunch at buca di beppo. we were celebrating both easter and ninang techie's birthday! all the food was really good, and we had fun catching up with everyone. chad even put together a video starring all the cousins. the video was really cute, funny, and sweet.

after lunch, anthony and i rested a little bit and then headed over to my parents' house for dinner. they cooked up some chicken alfredo, ham, and deviled eggs. everything was delicious. we even ate my mom's favorite (drumsticks) for dessert! haha.

miniature golf

today we hung out with the homies to celebrate eva's birthday! first we ate dinner at mr lee's for all-you-can-eat korean bbq (where jeric secretly paid the bill), and then we went to golf-n-stuff for some good ol' miniature golf (where jeric paid for everyone yet again)! the food was good and the golf was hilarious. we had a great time. thanks, jeric, for treating us! and thank you, eva, for being born! haha. happy birthday!

earth day

the disney store was having an earth day promo today where you could get a free reusuable shopping bag if you brought in five plastic shopping bags. i went to the one in del amo mall first, but got stuck with a weird minnie mouse one because all the cute ones were already taken. sooo, anthony and i headed out to downtown disney (where we were planning to hang out anyway) and i thought for sure i would find some super cute ones at the giant disney store there. it turned out that they did have a bunch of cute bags, but that location wasn't participating in the promotion! haha oh well! we saw the fireworks and ate beignets so we still had a good time.

bangs

during our dinner date tonight, i told jenn and gennie that i am thinking about cutting some blunt bangs. gennie gave me an awkward stare and said, "i can't imagine it." hahaha.. i guess that's a no go! =P

bobo the cat

i made a new friend today. his name is bobo and he lives next door. he is actually hairy potter's much friendlier brother. and btw, anthony chatted with our neighbor a few weeks ago and found out that hairy's real name is kitty kitty. aaaaand, the reason his name is so boring and unoriginal is because he wasn't even originally their cat! the neighbor said that hairy potter used to live at our house, but when his owners moved out (not the people we bought from, but the owners before them) they just left him behind!! how sad! no wonder he's so unfriendly and always hanging out on our porch. he's probably just waiting for his old owners to come back! but yeah, in the meantime, i'm happy with bobo's friendship.

and yes, i've always been a crazy cat girl who tries to befriend every cat i see. don't judge me.

guppys

i met up with the kiddos after work 'cause chad needed help with a project. we had dinner at guppy's for the first time in a while. one more week and it's boba time!

palm sunday

i asked anthony to take a picture as we were leaving palm sunday mass, and he quickly grabbed the camera from me and snapped the shot while i was still talking. sheesh.

close open

after leaving corona, we stopped to visit christine and sebastian since their house was on the way home. seabass was shy at first, but i won him over by impressing him with my "close/open" skills. (=

wedding shower

today was the big wedding shower! it was held at nina's friend's house in corona, and the decorations were sooo cute! unfortunately, this picture does nothing to prove my last sentence. haha. woopsies! it was a super hot day, but the party was still fun. the party planners did a great job! i'm so excited for the future bride and groom!

mickey mouse oreos

tomorrow we are going to kevin and nina's vintage-disney-themed wedding shower, so i made a bunch of mickey mouse oreos to add to the dessert table.

p.s. in case you're wondering, the counters are lined with wax paper. anthony didn't notice that, so when he came in to check on me he was like, "OMG what are you doing!?" haha!!!

we had dinner at the habit tonight where kevin's best men (mark and anthony) brainstormed a bunch of ideas for the upcoming wedding festivities. food was good and the conversation was hilario.

b-boy

bruce was back in town again so anthony and i headed over to rianne's place to see him. he was so hyper.. running all over the place, bumping into all of us. he has grown so much, but i don't think he knows what a big boy he is. rianne carried him on the scale and he weighed a whopping 36 pounds! haha. he's surely built like a bulldog, but his brain is wired like a mischievous toddler in his terrible twos.

the left is not right

wow, toni has been in so many pictures this year that you wouldn't even know she lives five hours away! but i'm not complaining! since she was in town again, we met up for breakfast at local place. we were laughing so hard while taking this picture. in our first pose, i was on the left and i made a comment about how terrible my posture looked. we started cracking up and toni admitted that she never feels comfortable facing left in photos either. so in the next shot, we switched sides.. and sure enough she looked super awkward that time around. to be fair, we decided that we should BOTH face left, and here is the result. hahaha. we look so uncomfortable/unnatural.

going nowhere fast

tonight we headed out to culver city for d*face's art show called "going nowhere fast." the theme was about immortalizing the deaths of american icons.. so "dead" impersonators of marilyn monroe, michael jackson, and andy warhol were walking around with half their faces falling off. yikes! here we are posing in front of d*face's giant mural painted on the gallery's outside wall. i used my camera's timer so that's why the five of us on the right are not quite prepared. haha! after the show, we all went to chego for dinner. fun night!

not the best crab house

anthony and i decided to give best crab house in gardena a shot for dinner tonight. i heard it was kind of similar to boiling crab, except less busy and much closer to home. we ordered two pounds of shrimp, but probably only ate 1.5 pounds. we both agreed that it was just alright, but probably not a place we'd ever go back to. unfortunately, a couple hours after eating, our stomachs gave us an even better reason to never go back there. haha oh well! at least we gave it a shot.

talent show

right when i was getting ready to leave work today, my boss came into my office and asked me to show him something on my computer. it ended up holding me back 15 extra minutes, and because of that i was five minutes late for chad's high school's talent show in san pedro. and wouldn't ya know, chad's performance took place during those first five minutes! what a bummer!!! i was so disappointed that i missed it, but at least anthony was there on time to record chad's crew's dance.

salt & pepper

after we took this picture, jenn pointed out that we're posing like my salt & pepper shakers. haha. well, she IS the salt to my pepper!

cupcakes

anthony took the day off of work to go snowboarding. he asked permission from his boss (me) first and i granted his request because he has been such a hard worker around the house. haha. no but really, he hasn't gone snowboarding this whole season because he's been too preoccupied with house stuff. after HIS happy day, he made MY day happy by coming home with four cupcakes! i haven't tried any of them yet but he picked strawberry, dulce de leche, red velvet, and breakfast (topped with bacon)!

boiling crab

i hung out with the girls again. we had a delicioussss lunch at boiling crab. on the way there i was telling robyn that i've never actually eaten at BC 'cause the wait is always too long, and that we always end up at claws instead. she said the two taste almost the same, but she prefers claws because she's not left with a lethargic feeling after eating. at the time, i didn't know what she was talking about. so yeah, we had our lunch and it was super good. but as soon as i got home the food coma kicked in and i knocked out on the couch for two hours! THAT is what she meant.

sleepy girls

toni is in town this weekend 'cause she just participated in another race. she is staying at anna's house so she invited me over this evening to hang out. i was tired from working on the kitchen all day, but i decided to go anyway. when i finally got there, i found the two of them in their pajamas ready to fall asleep on anna's bed! haha! even baby emma was asleep the whole time. snoozefest!

flower power

when we walked into the grocery store earlier, the first thing i noticed was this table full of pretty flowers. while anthony was taking the picture, i felt like my mom. she always likes to have her picture taken next to flowers. haha. btw, does anyone know what those big white ones are called? it would be nice to plant some in our garden at home.
