and to conclude our fun night in valencia, meet my faaavorite youtuber, christine gambito, a.k.a happyslip! she's the real reason i was so willing to drive all the way to valencia! haha. she was sooooo cool! she has an awesome personality, and was just so warm and friendly. she was more than willing to stand outside and talk to us for a good amount of time. she is naturally funny, and cracked us up with her stories and her imitations of her grandmother. we were all so pleased to meet her. what a gal!!!

kevin the celebrity

meet youtube star #2! chad and grace are huge kevjumba fans! they were both so nervous to talk to him. haha. we kept telling grace to tap him on his back and ask to take a picture with him, but she was too nervous to do it. it was so cute. but she finally built up the courage, and so we ended up chatting with him for a bit. it's kind of silly that we were treating them like celebrities, because after talking to them, you realize that they are just normal people! kevin was just a regular guy!! he was actually a little shy, but he was nice enough to talk to us. he said he was going to visit my blog. ha! we'll see about THAT!

tay zonday the smooth talker

sooo, we had an interesting night! haha. at 9:30pm, christine, grace, chad and i drove all the way to valencia to go to del taco. and did we order food? nope! we each got a drink. haha. we felt really ridiculous driving all the way there for a drink, but the REAL reason we went is because there was a youtube meet & greet going on! yes, i am THAT pathetic. the first youtuber i spoke to was tay zonday. he is famous for his "chocolate rain" song. he actually cut us in line, and christine said she was going to start something with him for doing that. silly!

la toya the server

i told anthony i wanted something good for dinner.. so we went to olive garden! i would eat there everyday if i could. haha yeah right. i'd probably get sick of it after a week. so yeah, we both ate three bowls of zuppa toscana. i LOVE that soup. our waitress felt bad because our first two bowls were mostly broth and not much meat or potatoes. sooo, when the new pot of soup was ready, she packed us each of bowl of soup to take home. how nice! she was also super excited when i asked her if i could take her picture. she said she loves taking pictures. haha. how cute!

natalie the piano teacher

priscilla has been taking piano lessons for a little over a month now. ever since her first lesson, i've been told that her piano teacher looks like a younger version of me. so today, i took priscilla to her music school, and as soon as i saw natalie, i was like, "hey! she kinda DOES look like me!" haha.

wendy the killer

while priscilla and i were having dinner at blenders earlier, anthony called and asked me to buy him dinner on my way home. we ended up at wendy's, where silla and i noticed that wendy is not a very nice looking girl. in fact, she's freaking scary. look at her eyes!! hahaha! silla was scared to look at her.

christine let me take home the bag of m&m's that we didn't finish during our junk fest yesterday. soooo i finished it up today instead. (=

i went to joann's after work to buy some felt for my current project. while i was browsing around in the fabric section, i heard a lady talking really loudly. at first i thought she was talking to me, because i was the only other person around. but after listening more closely, i realized that she was talking to the FABRIC! she was telling the pretty ones that she thought they were pretty.. and then telling a piece that fell onto the floor that it was a "silly little bugger."

and then, while i was waiting in line at the checkstand, i saw a lady trying to use her 20% off coupon on each item she had in her basket. the two cashier ladies helping her tried to explain that it could only be used once.. so she got really upset, and gave them the silent treatment the rest of the time they were ringing her up! they kept apologizing to her, and she just kept staring at them without saying anything in response! hahaha.

while she was keeping her mouth shut on one end of the store, the other lady was running hers at the other end. oh, crafties.

ricky the slam booker

after staying up 'til the wee hours last night, we didn't wake up 'til noonish today! before leaving for lunch, christine insisted that ricky fill out the slam book we made after he went to sleep. and even though we were all starving, we weren't allowed to leave until he finished signing it. haha! we had a bargain lunch at costco and then went back to chris' house for more rest, relaxation, and floating around in the pool. it was a pretty lazy sunday.

rianne the boba loca

i had a very long day! since jennifer and ryan are in minnesota for the weekend, i stayed at my mom's house last night so i could help watch the baby. i had to feed her at 2:30am, and then again at 5:30am. she wanted to stay awake after eating, and i had to be awake at 7:00 anyway, so i just never went back to sleep. jenn picked me up at 8:00, and then we headed out to simi valley to drop her wedding dress off at her seamstress' house. i got to see her wearing her dress, and i must say that i LOVED it. so beautiful!! we had lunch at porto's on the way home, and then i went back to watching the baby. serena and i pretty much just lounged around all day. in the evening, rianne and ricky came home and then the three of us drove out to brea to meet up with christine at red lobster. yum! it's been a while since i've eaten there. after dinner, the four of us went to target and then to christine's place to begin our slumber party. haha. we played several competitive rounds of a game called "catch phrase." it is super fun. jimmy arrived about an hour later, and then we all went to guppy's for boba and dessert. we were stuffed!! after getting back to chris' place, we stayed up all night playing more games. we even made a slam book. what a long day!

jonah the preggo

with the boys out of town for mark's bachelor weekend, the girls and i decided to get together for dinner at c&o's! we had soooo much food. i dont know what we were thinking ordering four large pastas to split between the six of us. we barely put a dent into the dishes. ha! so anyway, today marks the start of jonah's ninth month being preggers! in no time, mikey's going to have a little brother! yay!

forgive me. i know this picture is gross. but it's a part of my year, and it should be documented, right?! haha. so anyway, when gen and i were loading the car for palm desert last friday, i burned myself on my car's exhaust pipe! yeeouch! it was pretty bad-looking the first two days, but it seems to be healing rather quickly. as i was bandaging it up earlier, i noticed that it looked like a smiley face with a tongue hanging out. haha. that tongue is actually a scab forming where the skin came off the first day. lovely, right?! i decided to use my bandaging tape to create eyes, because everything is cuter when it's personified. yes? no.

it's becoming a summer routine for priscilla to sleep over on wednesday nights! we usually do the same types of thing. today we picked up our dinner from wingstop and jamba juice, and then came home to watch everybody hates chris. sound exciting? judging by the look on silla's face, she doesn't think so either.

harry potter the wizard

anthony and i went to del amo to watch harry potter 6 today. i happened to enjoy the movie a lot. anthony and i were both saying that the movies are getting scarier. when the first movie came out, priscilla was only 2 years old. she used to love watching it over and over. she was never scared of it. but i can imagine her being scared of the newer ones even though she's much older now. oh, that wizard!

grandma the advice giver

everytime i go visit serena, my grandma asks me why i don't have a baby yet. EVERY time! so today, after being questioned, i quickly answered, "i don't know, grandma." to which she replied, "you better ask your doctor why you don't have a baby." hahahaha. i asked, "does my doctor know the answer to that?" so she continued giving her advice, telling me that i've been living with anthony for a long time now, and if i don't give him a baby soon, he's going to divorce me. she finished off with, "you're no use if you don't have a baby." WOW! she's the sweetest grandma ever!!! haha.

we weren't in any rush to get out of bed this morning. we were supposed to have brunch somewhere out in palm springs, but instead stayed at the house to finish up the leftovers from yesterday. after packing, cleaning, and saying goodbye, we stepped out to the hot desert heat.. and boy was it HOT! 115 degrees to be exact! on our way home, gen and i stopped by handel's to get some ice cream and cool off. we each got two quarts to take home and a cup to eat on the way. yum!

today was a fun day. we started off with a delicious breakfast, where i ate longanisa for the first time in my life. haha. it was good! thanks, janice! in the afternoon, we lounged around for a bit and then a few of us went shopping at trader joe's. towards the evening, mark's sisters took jenn out so the rest of us could start getting ready for the cocktail party. we decided on a mad hatter theme, so we decorated with lots of colors and everyone brought hats to wear. it turned out cute! i think we all had lots of fun. but the pizza was gross!! cynthia the swinger

today jenn and her bridesmaids met up in palm desert for her bachelorette weekend! gen and i left the south bay around 2:30ish, and then got to our vacation house three hours later. there was a bit of traffic, but the ride didn't feel long because gen and i were yapping the whole time. after everyone arrived, we all got ready and then headed over to roy's for dinner. the staff at the restaurant was really friendly. then after dinner, we went down into palm springs to the parker, which is a super trendy hotel with eclectic decor. the restaurant was closed by the time we arrived, but they still let us in to hang out in their lounge area. it was filled with hipster couches and swinging chairs. cute!

carla came into town today. she finally got to meet serena. we went to del amo for a little while to have dinner at chick fil a.

serena is only a couple months old, but she's already on her way to stealing the lead for the most appearances on this blog! i just can't get enough of her cuteness. jennifer texted me this picture after i left the house. it made me want to turn my car around and go see her again. haha.

kevin the sand duner

anthony, kevin, nina, and i headed out to the sand dunes today for some good ol' exercise. it was nina's first time there, and she already climbed it 4 times! yeowza! i only did 1.5 my first time! haha. kevin and i both exceeded our goals of 4 climbs. i did 6, kevin did 7, and anthony did 8. after burning calories (and our calves), we picked a restaurant out of a stack of coupons that nina had. we ended up at beach mex, which was a pretty cute place. since the weather was pleasant, we decided to eat outside. it was good night with good food and good friends. good!

jenn the inviter

tonight, jenn and mark took us out to dinner! they wanted to thank us for helping them with their wedding invitations. they finished mailing them all out today. we also got ours! yay! so exciting! we ended up at claws in garden grove. we had sooo much food, but it was all very good. i know anthony really enjoyed it, 'cause he kept saying, "good choice!" haha. thanks again for dinner, guys! next time we'll try boiling crab.

karen the juror

i had jury duty today!! ugh! i was so nervous about it 'cause i never actually had to go into court for jury duty. i was summoned three times in the past, but each time my group number was never called to go in. so anyway, i arrived at the compton courthouse, where i was greeted by lots of sketchy people. yikes! but once i was up in the juror waiting room, it wasn't so bad. i had my ipod touch with me, and they had wifi, so i was okay. i was super nervous whenever they would call out names to go into a courtroom, but i never got called. and they ended up letting us go home at 3:30. yay! jury duty ain't so bad after all!

after leaving the courthouse, i stopped by virgil's house. he told me i looked like a judge. haha. what the! and sorry, i hate when i have to use pictures of myself. not cute.

this post is a continuation from the previous one, 'cause we stayed at the reunion 'til after midnight. mike was our official reunion photographer, 'cause he was snapping photographs left and right all night! i can't wait to see what kinds of crazy things he captured on his camera. haha. and yeah, even after leaving the reunion, we still had ourselves a very interesting night! muahhaha.

robyn the reuniter

today was my ten year high school reunion. wow! that makes me feel old. and how lame is it that i forgot to take someone's solo for my face of the day!? i had numerous people to choose from, but i wasn't thinking. so i just had to look through my pictures and pick someone out. i chose robyn.. who i've known since elementary school. (= the reunion was fun! gen and i were sitting at the check-in desk for a lot of the night, but we both agreed that it was kind of nice having an excuse to not be inside mingling. haha. shy girls! but yeah, even though not too many people showed up, we all still had fun. c/o 1999 fo lyfe! haha gross.

jordan the old kid on the block

venus and i went to the verizon wireless amphitheather in irvine today for the new kids on the block concert! haha. more like.. old kids on the block, or new men on the block. (= we had lots of fun, but the highlight of the night was when the boys came out into the audience! our seats couldn't have been any better, because jordan (venus' favorite) was at one end of our row on the right side, and jonathan (my favorite) was at the other end of our row on the left side. it was perfect!! they were so freaking close that we could've reached out to touch them if we really wanted to. woohoo!

i went to see the family again. while i was there, jennifer asked me to help her with serena's announcements. she took her camera out so we could take serena's picture, but we couldn't get her to look at the camera. i guess she'll have to try again tomorrow!

so look who wanted to be my face of the day! anthony has been growing his hair out lately, and he wanted to take a picture of it before he trims it tomorrow. i like his hair better like this. usually whenever i tell him i like his hair, he cuts it all off. but not this time! it's been about a month since he last cut it. it's so funny, though, when we see someone who hasn't seen his hair yet. they're always like, "whoa your hair is long." but looking at this picture, it's still totally short! but i guess it IS long for someone who is usually bald.

mikey the reunion planner

okay, how handsome is THIS guy?! we met up at jonah's house earlier to finalize all the plans for our high school reunion this weekend. during the meeting, mikey was so funny. we would be joking about something that happened back in high school, and then he would join in when we started laughing.. as if he really understood why it was funny. hahaha! so cute. jennifer the trilingual

priscilla and i had an early dinner at our favorite place.. blenders, of course! dinner was fun. silla and i had some pretty mature conversations, and i realized that she is such a smartie. she even brought up the subject of "supply and demand" even though she has not learned that in school yet. she formulated the idea herself! when we got home from dinner, the kids in the neighborhood were all riding bikes outside. i told priscilla that she should spend some time playing outside with them. i'm like, "it's summer! be a kid." but even the neighbors are such mature little intellectuals. jennifer, who lives next door, can speak three languages: english, spanish, and vietnamese!

dawson the party boy

i woke up with the worst stomach ache ever. i was supposed to meet up with jenn and the rest of her bridesmaids at 10:30, but because i felt like crap, i didnt end up getting there 'til 3:00ish! yikes! by the time i got there, they were almost finished with all the invitation crafting. we still worked on fixing up our bridesmaid dresses, though. when jenn's nephew, dawson, came home from a day out with his dad, he asked us if the girl party was over yet. haha.

after the girl party, i had dinner with venus, lauren, and peter at guppy's. w00t w00t!

ninang techie the sunbather

happy fourth of july! we spent our afternoon at a pool party in encino with the mejias. we ate, swam, and then ate some more! while we were in the pool, ninang techie was soaking up some sun. she was so relaxed that she didn't even realize she almost got hit in the head with a volleyball two or three times. haha! crazy boys. then in the evening, we headed back to carson and hung out at my mom's house. they closed the street off for a block party, so priscilla and i sat on the driveway and watched our neighbor's fireworks show. good times!

silla spent the night at my house last night. but the crazy part is that she spent 95% of her time here sleeping! we didnt get here 'til after midnight, and then she got picked up 30 minutes after we woke up! but oh well. at least we were able to enjoy toaster strudel for breakfast together.

later in the evening when anthony got home from work, we went to have dinner at our new favorite restaurant, furaibo! we ordered everything we got last time, except instead of the soft shell crab, we got the pork negima. we loved dinner. anthony said he liked today. ha! (=

happy birthday, auntie cindy!

to celebrate auntie cindy's birthday, the whole mejia clan (except my husband) met up for a fun night. after having dinner, we surprised the birthday girl by taking her to the madrid theater in canoga park to watch rex navarette's filipino comedy show. in my opinion, the funniest part about the show was when any of our crazy family members would be laughing either way before or long after a joke was over. haha. that happened quite a few times. (=

we stopped by pinkberry on the way home. it was my first time having it in a while, and it was delicious!
