wedding planning

today i accompanied the bride&groom-to-be to orange hill to meet their DJ and go over some stuff for their upcoming wedding. with the weather being so pleasant the past few nights, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view. i hope it's like this the day of the wedding! (=

i had dinner at olive garden with venus, grace, and vanessa tonight even though the two sisters just ate there last night! i think they're hooked. i'm such a bad influence. haha.

mini cooping

i hung out with jenn today for the first time in a while. actually, i haven't really seen too many of my friends since early august. i miss you, friends! but yeah, jenn and i had fish tacos for dinner at rubio's and then went to get some milk tea at tea station for dessert. and as usual, we sat in my car and chit chatted for an hour or two. haha. fun to me!

kohl's

anthony and i went to kohl's today to try to find him a suit for next month's wedding. he did not buy a suit, but he found a ton of other clothes that he bought for work. he loves that store. kohl's is to anthony as forever 21 is to me. i was so tired but he wanted to keep looking around at all the racks. hahaha. i don't know why that makes me laugh. how cute.

accidental exercise

i spent the evening with carla in cerritos. after eating lemon pepper chicken wings at wingstop, we unintentionally burned lots of calories by jumping around in the parking lot. hahaha. these jumping pictures are a lot of work!

baby brandon

my cousin, rod, and his wife, fay, drove down to carson earlier to visit and introduce us to baby brandon! my cute, little nephew was born on 8/9/10. even though he is only a few weeks old, he already looks and feels like a three month old! he has really chubby legs and a very sweet personality. it was a pleasure to meet him!

to celebrate the start of summer autumn, we went to handel's to eat some ice cream with the mejia family. i'm lovin' this warm weather. (=

frappe friday

five things that made me happy today:
1. friday frappe! haha. every friday morning i treat myself to a mocha frappe from mc d's.
2. my bosses wanted to treat me to lunch. they asked me to choose the place so i picked harry's deli which has super delicious sandwices. ordered my favorite.. chicken di!

4. season premiere of smallville!
5. simply being able to relax at home after a long, tiring week! ahhhh.

red lobster

anthony and i had dinner at red lobster with rianne and ricky. the three of them ordered endless shrimp, but since we all filled up with soup/salad and cheese rolls, they were already stuffed by the time our waiter came to ask them if they wanted seconds. it worked out for me, though, because now i get to eat anthony's leftovers for lunch tomorrow. woohoo!

venus has been wondering why grace and i always laugh when we hear the song "memories" on the radio. so today we finally answered her question by watching this video with her. the three of us were laughing hysterically. hahaha. it was soooooo funny. even while i'm typing this i am laughing out loud. here we are imitating some of our favorite parts of the video. =P

LA landmark

yesterday while we were looking around at a shop in vegas, anthony saw a RVCA shirt that he was considering buying. each letter represented a city and was drawn out using landmarks from that city. for los angeles, one of the landmarks they chose was randy's donuts! we were like, "haha! how did THAT make the cut?" so anyway, today vince needed a ride home after dropping off his rental van. and ironically enough, on my way to pick him up, i passed by the giant donut. has anyone actually eaten there?

sage alexis

on the way home from vegas, anthony, grace, and i stopped by gel and jason's house to finally meet baby sage! she was so cute and tiny! and let me guess, a million of you are now going to ask me when i'm having a baby. leave me alone! mind ya business! haha.

after spending the morning swimming, we bid farewell to the mejia and gilbertson families and then had lunch with just anthony's immediate family. here's a picture of all eight kids.. the eighth being jazmin of course!

lake mead

today we had our third annual mejia family bbq & jetskiing extravaganza! we had fun jumping, laughing, screaming (while jetskiing), eating, and enjoying each other's company. and even though our truck ALMOST got stuck in the lake while trying to tow the jetskis at the end of the day, i still think the whole day was a success! haha.

raising cane's chicken fingers

anthony and i got on the freeway and started our road trip to lake las vegas at exactly 8:00pm. we didn't really hit any traffic on the way, so we cruised through pretty quickly. my hope was that we would make it to vegas by midnight because my favorite chicken finger place was going to close at that time. we were cutting it really close, and i didn't know if we should even bother trying anymore or just go straight to the hotel. stopping by raising cane's was a little out of the way. but anthony wanted to try anyway, and so as you can see WE MADE IT, with just three minutes to spare! woohoo! best chicken strips evarrrrrrrrr!

hair and makeup

i went to christine's house after work today for her wedding hair and makeup practice session. nina just likes to do hair and makeup for fun, but she is soooo good at it! christine looked so purdy!! i know she's going to be such a beautiful bride, and i know nina is going to be a successful makeup artist! haha. go for it, neens!

sister's closet

i went to the mall earlier to try to find something to wear to the lake this weekend. i didn't find anything worth buying, so in the end, i found what i needed right out of rianne's closet. haha. having sisters really comes in handy! (=

afritada

i had the random urge to cook dinner today. it's probably pretty obvious that i don't cook very often, but today i wanted to surprise anthony with his favorite filipino dish.. afritada. i used a recipe that gen gave me a while back, and it turned out good! it was a little weird cooking a dish that i've never eaten because i didn't even know what it was supposed to taste like! but anthony said it tasted "right" and did an excellent job acting like he enjoyed it. haha! next week is his turn to cook! (=

window shopping

i went to DSW after work today to look for some shoes for christine's wedding. i didn't find what i was looking for, but i DID find this cute duffle bag! since i'm not a very spendy kind of gal, though, i just took a picture instead. now the memories can last a lifetime. ha!

kinder goodies

anthony brought back a bunch of goodies from germany. whenever we travel abroad, we like to look for delicious little treats that they don't typically sell here in the US. our favorite finds so far are the kinder brand goodies. he wasn't able to find any happy hippos, but these bueno bars are just as bueno!

dinner with the teenager

even though we already celebrated grace's birthday a couple weeks ago, today was the real day that gracie became a teenager. ay yi yi! but don't worry, she is still a little girl at heart. to celebrate, we dressed up in hello kitty and had a delicious dinner at guppy's, of course!

today, gel gave birth to a healthy baby girl! although venus and i are excited to meet baby sage, we are waiting for jason to tell us it's okay to come and visit. instead, the two of us went to disneyland and downtown disney. while we were walking around in the anne geddes store, we found these super realistic baby dolls. haha. they might not look so real in the pictures because the flash made them look shiny, but they really felt like real babies! haha.

seabass

yesterday, sebastian turned one month old! to celebrate, his mommy and daddy took him to the mall to take some cute pictures! what a handsome boy.

dinner partner

anthony came back from his german adventure today. woohoo! after i picked him up from the airport, we had dinner at good ol' versaille's. i'm happy to have him home again! who else could keep up with my love for eating out?!

jumping

i got a scary call from my mom while i was still at work earlier. she said she needed my help in picking my dad up from the airport later in the evening, and the reason she couldn't do it herself was because she could not walk! that made me really nervous, so i left work right away. but since my work is over 30 miles from home, i asked rianne to head over there as well to see what was going on. a doctor had already taken some xrays of her knee and everything appeared to be normal. it turns out that she possibly has tendonitis (aka jumper's knee) which is caused by overuse. rianne and i kept asking her to just rest and take it easy, but she insisted on walking all around the house.. even up and down the stairs! ay yi yi!!! she kept telling us how painful it was, and yet would not listen to our advice to stay put because she was frustrated. it was very sad, but also funny at the same time. haha. geeeeez! you are so stubborn, mommy! i wouldn't be surprised if she started jumping in this picture with us! =P

but in all seriousness, please say a prayer that my mom's pain is just temporary. and take it easy, mommeezy! feel better soon!

looking forward to next time

this morning, the minnesotans had to head back to minnesota. as usual, it was not fun saying goodbye, but i'm happy that we were able to spend the past week with them. plus, the girls will be back next month for christine's wedding. yahoo!

p.s. we all look pretty raggedy in this photo, but it was too early in the morning to care. haha.

sunday morning

priscilla slept over last night, and our plan was to wake up really early so we could go out for breakfast before i had to bring her to her dad's house. but because we stayed up 'til 2:00am talking and laughing, we accidentally overslept! since we didn't have as much time as we hoped, we just went to my parents' house where my dad offered to make us breakfast instead.

cousin day

today was cousin day! it's been quite a while since all my cousins have been together in the same room. everyone seems to be doing their own thing these days, and so i was happy that so many of them were able to join us. we planned a simple get together at my parents' house in carson. i had fun eating lots of yummy food and playing games with the cuzzos. yay cousin day!

beignets

anthony and i went to disneyland for the first time in months! we've been blocked out all summer so i wanted to go before he leaves for germany tomorrow. we finally got to try the delicious beignets from downtown disney. we liked them so much that we just kept eating and eating while we were walking to the main entrance. as a result, we got powdered sugar all over ourselves.

dinner at rianne's

rianne and ricky invited us over tonight for a spaghetti dinner. after dinner, we listened to serena cry, ate shrimp chips, and played "apples to apples."

matching

after dinner, hubby and i went to my parents' house to hang out with the minnesotans. serena and i were wearing matching outfits! maybe i should get a matching haircut, too. haha.. imagine that!

sis-in-law

venus told me that she wanted to treat me to dinner at olive garden, so clearly it was an offer i could not refuse!! the food was delicious as usual and i had fun chatting with sis-in-law. it was the first time in a while that we hung out without the kiddos. thanks for a lovely evening, venus!
