today we FINALLY decided to tackle anthony's room. until today, this room was still packed with boxes full of anthony's stuff. the only thing that's changed since moving day is that i took all my stuff out (and put them in my spare room instead) and pushed the remaining stuff against the walls so at least we could walk through it in case we needed to grab something out of one of the boxes. but enough is enough. we want to finally unpack everything, get it all organized, and start arranging furniture in here. BUT, before we do that, anthony wants to fix the floors. he and his friend installed the faux wood floors the day before we moved in just because we knew we'd be bringing a lot of our stuff in here for storage. they did it in a rush, thinking we could always fix it later once we were more settled and actually living in the house. so today we emptied the room and labeled the current panels for easy re-installation once the underlying baseboards are all leveled out. anthony was quite fond of his new empty room, though, and suggested that we keep it this way to use as a fitness room. haha. he wishes!

soak city and frostbites
today i accompanied venus and the kids to soak city. i always think water parks are scary, but when i'm actually there they don't seem so bad. haha. today, though, i knew i was mostly just going to the park to hang out with venus. we ended up going on two water slides, hung out in the wave pool, and then took four trips around the lazy river. fun! after soak city, we went down the road to frostbites and got some super delicious sorbet. gracie couldn't stop talking about how much she was enjoying it. bathroom progress
the first month or so in the new house, anthony was on a demo-frenzy (demo as in demolition)! he was tearing holes into walls and ripping out stuff that he didn't like. the hallway bathroom was in good shape when we moved in. it was not our style, but it was still nice. everything matched. but since anthony was not a fan of their brass fixtures, he removed them! that would have been fine if we replaced them right away, but we got caught up in so many other projects instead. i had to make a new rule that we can't start destroying something unless we're ready to fix it. so yeah, today we finally decided to do something about the ugly bathroom. it was always overwhelming to think about. i've been wanting to paint the walls since there were patches all over the place wherever anthony ripped something out. but before painting, i thought we should buy a new vanity first (since the one we have is really old and small). but before installing a new vanity, we'd have to redo the floors since the current tile doesn't go under the current vanity. it's like we can't do one thing until after we do something much bigger. sheesh!
but since anthony finally got the bathtub fixed (it was drippy at first, which we didn't like 'cause it wasted water), we decided to at least install our new towel holders and such to bring the bathroom back in working order. we also finally hung a mirror. i've also decided that i'll just paint over the ugly patches on the wall with the leftover paint that the old owners left in the garage. it's an easy fix for now. it's also a lot less wasteful than repainting the whole room in a new color, only to have to fix it again later when we repair the wall behind the current vanity, etc. i don't know why i didn't think of this sooner.
wow, this is a long post with lots of boring info. but hopefully now you'll understand why we had such an ugly hallway bathroom. haha. it's better now! and the best part of all is i can now go in there and make funny faces at myself in the mirror. yesss!

sanrio surprises
i got two sanrio surprises today! the first one was at coco ichibanya where we had a delicious curry dinner with jenn and mark. i ordered a kid's meal which came with a voucher for a prize. our mean waitress told me that she wouldn't let me use the voucher, but mark asked the lady at the cash register anyway and she was like, "sure!" it ended up being a hello kitty prize! w00t w00t! then after dinner, we went to yogurtland 'cause i wanted to see what the deal was with their current sanrio promo. the surprise there was not a good one, though. they ran out of sanrio cups! doh! haha. oh well. at least the yogurt was good! and we still got our hello kitty spoons.

julius
i have a love/hate relationship with julius (my car). when he's not misbehaving, i love him. he's fun to drive and i still think he's super cute. sometimes i treat him like a real person. if we're in anthony's car and we pass him on the street, i'll often yell out, "hi jules!" but when he acts up (which unfortunately seems to happen at least once or twice a year) i immediately want to get rid of him. he's just so expensive to maintain. he's bougie and he only likes the expensive stuff. ugh!
haha, i sound like a crazy person. but anyway, today i clocked in my 100,000th mile with julius! that's a lot of ground covered in the past six and a half years. we've come a long way, friend!

garlic chicken
even though i just ate at versailles a few days ago, i could not resist when christine asked if i wanted to join her there for dinner. uhh, yes please! actually, i did not admit that to her until we were walking into the restaurant. i didn't want her to settle on another restaurant because i know she's been craving the citrus garlicky goodness. mmmm.. saying that makes me want to eat them one more time. let's go!

smelly cat
here's a picture of a raggedy old cat and her raggedy old owner. doh! i went to visit meli after work today. meli turned 12 this year, which makes her a senior citizen in cat years. she has aged dramatically this year alone, and has become very weak and scrawny. i don't really like to admit this, but it actually breaks my heart everytime i see her. not fun at all. she's been such a loyal companion these past 12 years, though, so i still allow her to crawl all over me even though she's stinky.
smelly cat.. smelly cat.. it's not your fault!

late night crafting
after leaving lorraine's party, we had a delicious dinner at max's in glendale and then contemplated going to watch captain america when we got back to torrance. we didn't get home 'til close to midnight, though, and both anthony and chad were tired already. so while they had their snoozefests, grace and i stayed up all night crafting! she often texts me to ask when she can come over and make stuff with me, so i knew that was something i wanted to squeeze in this weekend. i pulled out my craft supplies and we ended up making headbands and hairclips. fun!!
lorraine's birthday
since we've been so busy the past few months, we haven't had a whole lot of time to spend with chad and grace. we decided about a month ago to keep this weekend open for them so they could spend the night at our place. grace also kept mentioning that she wanted to visit her mejia cousins, so it worked out perfectly when we were invited to lorraine's bday party in burbank this afternoon! perfect timing!
